Zara Am

Clan Salubri
Wu-Zao Autarkis
The Arm of Autonomy

Description

~Gentle steps yield the path to the hurried and ambitious. Here comes a woman who takes in the joys of the night. While quiet and reserved, Zara emanates a sense of tranquillity, piety, compassion, and wisdom. These elements are obvious in the 30ish Far Eastern woman’s soft-crafted features. Her fragile smile radiates humility. The woman’s brown eyes twinkle, and their dark infinity is welcome warmth. Ink-black hair was trimmed short and practical, though its simple fashion does not detract from femininity. Despite Zara’s attractive features, her stature stays clothed in dark woolens, shirts and pants, with sandals on her feet. The little glimpse of flesh she allows reveals pale undernourishment. Vast but untapped potential seems to lurk just beyond Zara’s placid presence.~

History

Life

Life wasn't meant to be easy for a farmer's daughter. This was especially true in the Bengali Kingdom of the mid-1600s. Zara was the oldest child on a poor wheat farm. She and her family knew only toil and want under an oppressive reign of the government. Zara aided her sickly mother care for her five other siblings. When Zara was barely a woman, her mother finally succumbed and died. Death would visit Zara again, however. Her pre-arranged husband, who was the son of a prominient rice farmer on the other side of the valley, died in a deadly flood. So instead of being married off, Zara became a spinster and an invaluable aide to her family. The young woman was a good daughter, however. She remained dutiful and faithful to her overworked father and the needs of her younger brothers and sisters.

Still, Zara felt unfulfilled. Her life was a big hole of nothing. Of course, she stayed honest and good to all people. She whole-heartedly believed that this lifestyle would lead her to an improved reincarnation. Zara did wish for more than that, however. She couldn't help but want more. Out of this ever-repressed desire emerged a strange habit. Late at night, Zara began to sneak out of her home and wander the dark jungle. She knew she tempted dharma, what with the dangers of wild animals. But Zara wanted to tempt her fate, it seemed. After a few months of this habit, a predator of sorts did take notice the twenty-four year old woman. As she clambered through the foliage, her minds and thoughts were spied upon by this unseen observer. After several nights of studying, the watcher stepped forward. He lit a candle so Zara could see him. His presence surprised the woman, but she did not feel frightened.

Embrace & Siring

So Gangaivarchadaiyan explained himself to the placid woman. Zara learned that the peaceful man was not human. He was an immortal who was cursed with an aversion to the sun and a hunger for blood. But despite that curse, the agelessness allowed him to pursue true enlightenment. Nirvana, Zara realized, could be hers. She deserved the chance to seek it for her years of selfless service to family. Gangaivarchadaiyan offered the Embrace to Zara as that potential transcendence above the eternal cycle of reincarnation. Zara was definitely intrigued but was given three days to decide. Zara returned home. She spent the next three days in deep consideration. And in a subtly way, by the third day she was giving her family farewells. Zara returned to the rainforest and offered her reply to the pale man as he re-emerged from the shadows. She was enfolded in his gentle arms. The pressure on her neck was almost unnoticeable and the Kiss was dream-like -- not quite pleasurable but not painful either, just hazy. Moments later, she tasted drops of acrid but sweet blood on her lips. She swallowed Gangaivarchadaiyan's vitae, feeling timeless quiescence and mountain-like invulnerability flow down her throat.

Then the Embrace was upon her. Semi-conscious from that dazed experience of dying and being rescued from oblivion, Gangaivarchadaiyan gathered Zara up. She was carried deeper into the jungle. The trek was long before they reached Gangaivarchadaiyan's simple abode in a valley near the river. She collapsed in her own cot as dawn arrived and slept as the dead. Zara dreamed of her sire, of the Embrace, and the beloved family she left behind. It was a choice she made to finally live for herself. Such dreams haunted Zara's sleep for the rest of her existence; their surreal sensations were so intense that she could never wake up easily when the sun set. When she awoke finally that next night, her education began. Gangaivarchadaiyan instructed Zara about feeding. She met the house-servant, Hoi, who willingly let the vampires feed off of his blood. He was cared for and allowed to paint to his heart's content in exchange. Zara also learned about blood ties and clans, and that she was Wu-Zao. Gangaivarchadaiyan explained that the clan was called the Salubri in the West. And he noted sadly about how many enemies the misunderstood clan had world-wide.

And Zara was told that the clan's duty was to heal others in mind, body, and soul, as well as seek self-purification. Zara had no trouble helping people. It was part of her nature. But she was troubled to hear that that was why the Wu-Zao were so hated. People tended to mistrust those with the power to affect their souls -- even if it was for good. Zara's upbringing also included memorization of Caine's Laws (several of which became the doctrine of the Camarilla) and Saulot's Way, the Path of Tears. Gangaivarchadaiyan pointed out to Zara that law was hardly the most important thing that a vampire should uphold. The good judgement and wisdom of a sound mind would better guide Zara to the release of Nirvana, also known as Golconda. Until she found harmony, Zara knew her life was frozen in time. This stasis prevented her from flowing properly through the river of life. Consequently, she dared not ever try crossing a river or stream of flowing water. Rivers were the arteries of the world and her undead existence would contaminate its regular flow like a dam. Her sire did not instill this superstition; she simply adopted it from what she believed.

Early Years

So with this foundational education completed, Zara began the ascetic path towards Golconda. Under Gangaivarchadaiyan's guidance, Zara developed magical powers (Disciplines) of "peace and serenity". She also learned from her sire the skill of centering one's mind to overcome base instinct. This meditation, along with her Disciplines, became the key focus of her studies. The path to Golconda, Gangaivarchadaiyan warned, was very long and routed with many dangers within and out. And for many decades, this largely mental and spiritual focus dominated her existence. Though the neonate often dreamed about her mortal family, she was too involved to give them much waking thought. And this was true even though she almost never left that secluded haven. Zara dwelled as all of from human and supernatural society as possible.

About fifty years after Zara's Embrace, Gangaivarchadaiyan sired another childe. His name was Narain. Gangaivarchadaiyan found him on the run, an outspoken Hindi fleeing angry Muslims. Narain accepted the Embrace with gratitude, grace, and wonder. Narain adjusted well, like Zara did, and as quickly. So soon the three were able to study and meditate together nightly. They also conversed often, sharing life experiences to enrich one another's views. Zara and Narain learned that their sire had much to share indeed! Gangaivarchadaiyan was well over 500 years old, had seen most of the Orient, and met all sorts of people and creatures. So the two were rather disappointed when Gangaivarchadaiyan announced not long after Zara's 100th "birthday" as Wu-Zao that he had to leave. He'd be gone about a decade, he explained, on personal business abroad. Narain and Zara were to continue their meditations and studies together. So the pair did so. Without Gangaivarchadaiyan's fatherly presence, however, their relationship developed. Zara was drawn to the charismatic Narain, finding a kindred spirit in his hope of breaking the cycle of dharma. Before Zara knew it, she and Narain were in love. Their's was a gentle passion. It consisted of holding each other, feeding from one another's vitae, sharing dreams, hopes, and thoughts, and plenty of kisses. Only Narain's view of women, still rather sexist as their culture defined, tested their relationship. But Zara was aware of and accustomed to this. She tried to help Narain overcome his views -- it helped that she was fifty years his senior!

For several years, this relationship continued. Unfortunately, Hoi developed a cancer despite his ghouled status that only Gangaivarchadaiyan's advanced Obeah magics could counter. The two younger Wu-Zao could only ease his passage. Then the pair were without a ready source of sustenance! They had to leave the isolated home that they strayed so little from prior. So back to mortal society the two wandered. They reached the village of Lum'nar in northern Bangledesh in search of someone who could use their patronage and appreciate their needs. For unlike most vampires, the Salubri were unable to feed from unwilling human hosts. The pair lingered for about a week. They fed carefully from victims sleeping in the same inn. The Kiss masked their feeding as pleasurable dreams. To their shock, though, late on the sixth night of their stay, violence shook the village. The peasants found a devil-trucking witch and sought to stone her to death! The two Wu-Zao raced to the scene. Clost study of the young woman who was being tormented revealed no such spiritual wickedness staining her soul. Zara resolved to rescue her. The pair rushed forward, letting their more durable undead bodies take the cast stones. The bound woman was rushed off into the jungle.

And there Zara and Narain learned a valuable lesson about the outside world: looks can be deceiving! Once in the forest, the rescued woman began to change, even growing fur. The Wu-Zao backed up only to encounter a pack of midnight-black werewolves surrounding. They sounded fierce and terrible was their countenance. Lupines, Zara recalled from Gangaivarchadaiyan's lessons. Her clan blood's gift of healing and protection manifested as an enlightened third eye. It glowed with calm luminscence as the Lupines advanced. The light served as both beacon and ward. Zara constructed the Neutral Guard. The werewolves stalked forward, growling at the determined, magical resistance that Zara erected. But Zara paled as the Garou proved more determined and stepped slowly but surely through her ward. Just as they were close enough to attack the Salubri, Narain started to speak. But the "witch" interrupted, calling the approaching Lupines her family. Astounded, Zara just watched them help the fur-sheened girl away. One paused behind, turning to say to Zara and Narain: "Thank you. But you must stay away from our kind forever more." And the two frightened Wu-Zao were only too glad to oblige.

Then the pair hurried home to discuss other options. Fortunately, Gangaivarchadaiyan must have had an empathic link to his servant. A night after Zara and Narain returned to their home, Gangaivarchadaiyan also came back. He understood already why he came home early. His childer did not need to explain. Zara and Narain were informed that the time came for the three Wu-Zao to all go seperate ways. Zara felt dismayed. She didn't want to leave Narain's side. Likely, her sire sensed their affection for each other and considered it a distraction from their more worthwhile goal of Golconda. Gangaivarchadaiyan went on to explain to his childer what the nexy stage of their existences would be. They were to go forth on a solitary path of exploration and mercy. Zara would have to learn how to feed on blood from willing donors without a faithful servant like Hoi. Though such a minion could travel with her, she needed to learn more self-reliance. Brainstorming, Zara soon asked if she could take blood from humans sleeping peacefully and, as far as an observer could see, dreaming pleasantly. Gangaivarchadaiyan said it was quite possible and applauded the idea.

By the end of the week, Zara practiced her idea. She spent as much time with Narain as possible. They discussed plans and future hopes. Zara even exchanged a vow of love with Narain. Then they were called into the cabin. Their sire said tomorrow night was the night to leave. They would all split ways. Zara would go west, Narain north, and Gangaivarchadaiyan south. Their sire was going to the Temple of Illam, one of the only Wu-Zao strongholds in the Orient (and the world). Zara and Narain were asked to come see their sire in this place one hundred years after tomorrow night; they both agreed.

Exploration

And so ended the first century of Zara's unlife. As sheltered as it was, Zara felt unprepared for the vast, cruel world. She traveled west with an understandable amount of trepidation. Her goal was to provide spiritual and physical aid to the people of the world. She intended to do this by listening to people's troubles and using her powers to heal injuries. Region and race made little difference to Zara, even though she knew it could matter to other people. She ranged all over Indochina, India, and the Near East. She became acquainted with different peoples' customs, languages, and beliefs. She traveled by foot mostly, but occasionally went by boat. Zara went even as far as Jerusalem. There she carefully sought signs of the Western half of her clan. But she found no trace of Salubri even in that pilgrims' city.

And over the course of many years, Zara wandered through many kingdoms. As she voyaged, she also passed through many wars, too. Always the carnage disturbed her and collateral damage outright offended Zara. Nonetheless, she slipped among the killing fields. She healed whom she could and eased the passage of the doomed. She soothed pain and listened to final prayers, confessions, and lost dreams. Zara even performed last request favors for the dying. She often carried tokens and letters from battlefields to soldiers' families and homes. Many of those mortals she encountered likely considered her an angel of God or a devi of Vishnu. Though she never received true recognition, Zara was honored often with gratitude. However, Zara did have difficulty with other supernatural creatures on several occasions. Never did the humans she helped give her much trouble.

But Lupines and even other Kindred were another story, unfortunately. Zara was present at a number of different civil wars and supernatural conflicts. Out of mistrust of her race or blood, these other creatures of the night did not appreciate Zara's work. Most often, she was chased away -- even by the person she was trying to heal! Consequently, Zara developed powers to hide her from sight. Stealth and caution became the Wu-Zao's best friends. Yet despite these occasional setbacks, Zara felt that the second century of her existence was quite productive. In addition to learning about and surviving the world beyond her sire's care, Zara made a positive impact on the world throiugh benefitting people's lives.

Temple of Illam

Then it became time for Zara to go home. She voyayed mostly by ship, crossing the Indian Ocean. The Temple of Illam was located in the Eastern Ghats range of southeast India. The secreted temple housed a dozen Wu-Zao and three times as many loyal priests. The priests were followers of Buddhism after a fashion. Out of mercy, they helped the Salubri. They were completely willing hosts, even providing blood. Zara arrived to this place and Gangaivarchadaiyan greeted her fondly. However, Narain was not present. In fact, Gangaivarchadaiyan sadly informed Zara that Narain was murdered. In his travels through China, the Asian Kindred, the Wan Kuei, discovered and executed him as a heretic to theor "proper" paths of enlightenment.

Naturally, Zara felt anger and sorrow both at that senseless tragedy. But she did not want revenge, though her blood boiled. Gangaivarchadaiyan was proud to see that his childe matured, as she immediately into the temple life. Zara channeled her outrage at the loss. Through meditation and ascetic contemplation, Zara settled into the temple for reflection. During this time, she met a number of other Wu-Zao. Some were her elder, others were not. She felt fortunate, however, to learn that her sire was one of the oldest and wisest. Zara studied more advanced concepts and ideals at the feet of her elders. In turn, Zara instructed younger pupils in more fundamental beliefs. She enjoyed the prestige her place gave her, respect she never got in her mortal life.

And the asceticism didn't end with just philosophy. Zara learned advanced forms of meditation to resist the Hunger for blood for much longer periods of time. She was expected to put her mind to the resolution of various riddles. Zara also heard and invented such fables, filling in morals. And then she even began to learn the martial arts. Tied into the advanced meditation, and also useful as an all-around development of the self, the internal style of Thaig was only appropiate. Due to her bloodline's pacifistic tendencies, the techniques she learned were largely non-lethal. The manuevers she acquired focused on disarming-and-disabling and take-downs. And finally, the eldest of the Wu-Zao even initiated Zara into elaborate rituals of purification and resolve. They involved tapping of the more difficult intricacies of the blood. But they were helpful magics to know indeed.

Ultimately, most of the years Zara spent in the Temple of Illam were peaceful interludes. She spent countless hours in reflection upon harmony and her true place in the world. But not every year passed so calmly. Three times in the century that Zara dwelled there did enemies attack. The Temple of Illam was not easily discovered. Clever spells hid it well. But occasionally, enemies with magics of their own unlocked its location. In all three assaults, most of the mortal priests whom gladly served the Wu-Zao perished. And Zara had to watch some of her own clanmates die, too. Though the violence shocked Zara, she maintained as best as possible. During these bloody tests of endurance, her third eye's powers, especially the Neutral Guard, served well. And despite the hazards, the Wu-Zao always defended themselves as non-lethally as possible. Zara rarely had to harm anyone during these trials.

Even when her own kind were attacking did she stay her wrath. From the west came Cainites of a different breed -- the Ravnos. Though cunning were their fighting ways, their assault was short-lived. They were illusionists, masters of Chimerstry, but the elder Wu-Zao at the temple penetrated the deceit with their own powers of perception. Zara remembered tending to injured priests behind the Neutral Guard as her sire chastised the Ravnos. Their elder, Chuchaya, stepped forward to explain the motivation of the attack. Dangerous were the beliefs of the Salubri, Chuchaya stated, if it meant holing up in a temple. For the world needed their great powers of healing. If they did not want to help the world, they wanted to hurt it by default of hiding. And thus, their great power was wasted potential. The Ravnos came to liberate that energy. Zara, her sire, and all the remaining Wu-Zao were unmoved. The Ravnos could not win that battle, so they left the temple in peace thereafter. Of course, before they left, they stole several religious relics kept in Illam. The Salubri didn't mind that. The unnecessary deaths infuriated many of the Wu-Zao for years to come, however.

And that may be why the next assault aggravated Zara's kin so much. From the north descended a horde of self-righteous villains: Wan Kuei. Mostly followers of the Way of the Resplendent Crane, they condemned the Wu-Zao as heretics. These were not the same vampires that murdered Narain, Zara knew. Instead, it was just that these Shining Ice Guardians dispatched spies to track Wu-Zao to the Temple of Illam. The younger Salubri were followed here, no doubt. These dispassionate Wan Kuei brought a small army of ruffian thugs with them, too. Zara heard the first screams of the priests as they were slaughtered to a man. Zara and her clanmates retreated deeper into the temple, enacting their Neutral Guards while their enemies raided the building. Small explosives shook the temple walls as the Wan Kuei arranged for such destruction. The Wu-Zao employed the same defensive tactics that usually saw them through such crises. But the Wan Kuei did not seek to deceive or confuse the Salubri. Outside the Neutral Guards' perimeters, the vampires began to chastise and condemn the Wu-Zao and their beliefs. To the Thousand Hells were their souls damned and no hope would save the bastard childer of Saulot. The Thousand Hell Stare bore through their Neutral Guards. Zara recalled the Wan Kuei's unholy gazes twist her gut and diminish her will.

As the Neutral Guards began to falter, the Wan Kuei charged. Their human servants rushed forward as well. Suddenly, Zara witnessed her sire and three others, all her elder, begin to chant in unison. Their third eyes took on a more hellish, crimson hue. The Wrath of Sammael descended upon the Wu-Zao's foes. Next thing Zara knew, she was caught in a bloody melee. This time, she could not stop with non-lethal techniques. She defended herself as best as she could. Several mortals fell at her hands while her elders clashed with the Wan Kuei. The battle was largely a blur in a dark chamber only the Wu-Zao's mystical third eyes illuminated. When the hour passed, Zara and only four other Wu-Zao still stood. Her sire and one other elder survived; the two others were younger than Zara. All of the mortal soldiers were slain and all seven Wan Kuei met Final Death that night. None of the Wu-Zao's priests lived through this brutal episode. Gangaivarchadaiyan performed a magical augury that night while Zara and others cleaned and repaired and buried the dead. Gangaivarchadaiyan learned that these Wan Kuei acted autonomously, perhaps out of search for glory and prestige by slaying "heretics". No Wan Kuei Court sent them -- so it was likely that the Wu-Zao would not be troubled again.

At least, Zara never had to survive another Wan Kuei attack. But from the woodlands to the south came the fierce Hong Lang. Tropical wolves that could assume terrifying wolf-man shapes -- Lupines -- came to destroy the "blights on nature". It was years after the disastrous conflict with the Resplendent Cranes. The Temple of Illam was mostly recovered and rebuilt. The number of priests and vampires was not even close to fully recovered, however. At least this time, the Wu-Zao heard the Lupines' hunting howls and called the priests into the protective aegis of Neutral Guard ahead of time. The Lupines stormed into the temple and into the main chamber where the Salubri waited. The pack of werewolves, numbering nine, surrounded the six vampires and fifteen priests. The mortals mostly cringed in primal terror of the beasts. The Wu-Zao could not demonstrate much more bravery. Zara recalled her last encounter with Lupines and wondered if the Neutral Guard would be enough.

Undeed, the brown-furred werewolves, each bearing red streaks somewhere on their coats, never spoke. The Wu-Zao's collective powers barely held the Hong Lang at bay. No melee broke out and the confrontation proved to be a test of resolve and willpower. Hours actually became days of waiting. The priests could not donate blood to their undead benefactors; the vampires dared not allow even one lower her Neutral Guard to feed. The Wu-Zao were forced to fast. Zara and her elders had less difficulty with this task than the younger Salubri present. Soon, the youngest vampire tried to appeal to the feral werewolves. She tried to explain that the Wu-Zao were creatures of mercy, in search of enlightenment. Zara shook her head. She knew the Lupines would not heed the neonate. Narain's words did not move the werewolves in that first encounter so long ago. If their young cub had not spoken in their defense, Zara and Narain would have been slaughtered. And indeed, the Hong Lang were just as uncompromising. Zara could only read the empathic feelings that radiated in their spiritual halos. Anger and hatred dominated their thinking. The Wu-Zao could only wait and hope to win this battle of attrition. Fortunately, the Lupines had far less patience than the undead. Eventually, the werewolves slinked out one-by-one. The showdown ended with the Wu-Zao as exhausted victors.

Diaspora

So that was the last assault on the Temple of Illam while Zara dwelled there. Many years of peace interceded those few bursts of violence. But the modern era approached, ushering in many new dangers. Weapons capable of greater destruction threatened that future attacks could destroy the temple entirely. It was decided that the Wu-Zao would disperse from Illam. Gangaivarchadaiyan and two other elders stayed behind. Zara and the other Salubri were to undergo fresh pilgrimmages. This didn't come until several years after the werewolf attack. And before Zara was to leave, she had the honor knowing that her sire, Gangaivarchadaiyan, transcended. He met with Zara and the others one evening. He radiated more serenity than Zara ever remembered. "I have arisen," he informed his clanmates. From the gentle look in his eyes, Zara realized that he finally achieved Golconda. Seeing her sire achieve this great goal only strengthened her own resolve. She would find that enlightenment, too. No longer could she seek it at Illam, however. She left temple on her own personal quest for wisdom, truth, and lore. Zara knew she would once more be hunting the blood of dreamers as she traveled.

Once again, Zara voyaged to the west. But she went further than she did on her first pilgrimmage. Zara saw many wonders in her travels, including Egypt, Greece, and Hungary. She mostly avoided her fellow Kindred for fear of persecution. Her time alone in the wildnerness taught her more adaptability and understanding of the animal nature of all life. Zara did encounter her share of "fellow" Cainites over the years, of course. Hearing and witnessing some of the other vampires' callous or naive beliefs only reinforced faith in her own path. No other man or monster could shake Zara from her ideals and that ever-distant goal of Golconda. While in Italy, Zara grew more educated on the politics of the Kindred. She learned the names of several other clans. Zara also became aware of the distinction between the Camarilla and Sabbat sects. No single Cainite was prudent enough for Zara to learn all of these facts. Instead, she picked up the knowledge here and there. She overheard conversations and asked the right questions of the right people. Zara even discovered which parts of North America to avoid while listening to a distant conversation between two young and brash Camarilla neonates. She discussed her pilgrimmage with only one vampire, the Prince of Naples in 1961: Paulo Terse. This Cainite was of Clan Toreador and claimed to maintain neutral interests in politics. She felt safe discussing some of what she knew of the East with Paulo, and in turn learned much about the West. From Naples, she thought she'd be heading back to the Orient. Paulo presented Zara with a small portrait he himself painted, though she donated that to a museum in Rome on her way out of Italy. She could not be carting such a lovely gift all over the world.

Eventually, Zara's journey brought her back east to the Ghats. She sought out the Temple of Illam again. But strangely, she could not find it no matter how hard she searched. It was as if the temple never even existed. Then Zara heard a voice in her mind, the soothing speech of her sire: "The Temple of Illam will welcome you when you are truly ready for the final stage of your path". So with a smile, Zara moved on, traveling again. Now she went east, wandering through the Far East for a brief time. In light of dear Narain's fate, Zara was careful not to linger too long in any one place. Her voyages took her through Southeast Asia and China for many years. She avoided population centers, feeding sparingly. Zara searched for truths among new cultures and peoples. And the philosophies of China did intrigue the Wu-Zao. But she dared not consult with mortal or immortal sages of the Orient. She remembered the hate of the Wan Kuei all too well. Zara avoided the shen -- the supernaturals of the East.

America

So in the last part of the 20th century, she took a freighter ship from Taiwan to San Francisco, California. Zara didn't linger on the West Coast for long though. She headed east in the States. With simple supplies, especially a lightproof tent, she wandered the Rocky Mountains for months. Zara fed from animals as necessary and enjoyed the pristine beauty of the New World's mountains. She reflected on the harmony of her true nature with the world. But her trek didn't end there. Zara ended up in the serene plains of the Midwest. Once she arrived to Kansas City, Zara heard the rumors of shen in the city's Little Asia district. Maybe, she hoped, these immigrants were wiser and more prudent than those who stayed in Asia. Zara believed that despite their self-righteous fervor, the Wan Kuei and other shen held important keys to "the dilemma" of vampirism. So Zara first took the effort to learn the in's and out's of the city area before daring to approach the shen. However, Zara wasn't sure that time was still on her side. Slowly but surely, the world seemed to be going from bad to worse. How could she parse through all that hate and mistrust? Zara knew she would have to tread very carefully.

Weakness
Path of Least Resistance

As a dedicated follower of the Path of Tears, Zara is following the most direct path to harmony between Man and Beast. Unfortunately, her beliefs keep her from aggressively fighting -- even for herself. Though she would defend herself (perhaps because she is not yet wholly enlightened), she would loathe to destroy even a dire foe. The cost to her soul would be too great. But the cost to life and limb may prove as unpleasant.

Likelihood of Corruption

Low.

Though an elder vampire by all standards, Zara is a virtuous childe of Saulot's blood. She remains a peak example of his wisdom, mercy, and tenacity. She is not easily corrupted at all.
