Lanesse Fil

Temple Priestess of the Bunker of Blood
Mistress of the Shield of Skulls
Serpent of Light

Description

~Attractive chocolate-colored flesh adorns the long-legged frame of this viceroy of vice. Lanesse boasts a glossy-lipped smile that reads like she knows too much. Her brown eyes glimmer with the hint of mischief and sweet sin. She sweeps dark, well-permed hair past her shoulders and swaggers from her point of origin with a hand perched on a hip. Lanesse favors evening wear, ranging from slinky black dresses to glamourous gowns. However, it isn't uncommon to find the 20ish woman in corduroys and a T-shirt. Cruelty lingers in Lanesse's features, poorly masking the terror and hunger lurking within.~

OOC: Appearance 3

"We're not here to haggle, mon ami. You'll pay the full price for your sin."

History

Life

Lanesse was born in the middle of Port-au-Prince. Her family was one of the many poor. Her youth was marked with degradation and emotional abuse. Her parents stayed devout Catholics but could not pass on their reverence to their children. The cruel urban streets disallowed good faith in a God that seemed to scoff at His creation. Her two older brothers laid the groundwork for her own path. Drugs and prostitution replaced any attempt at education in her life. Until her late teens, Lanesse worked with her brothers to sell drugs and rake in just enough cash to live half-decently.

Then the Haitian police, working with American agents, cracked down on a number of little fish scattered throughout the city. Her brothers were arrested. She managed to escape notice and fled to the beach for a short time. That is where she met Cirocco. Lured into the dark and exotic man's embrace, Lanesse soon became a faithful servant of his own vice-ridden cult. She was a ghoul of a Son of Set. For three years, she obeyed his whims. She drew in more customers to his den of sin. And Lanesse lived in a nearly constant state of drugged and dreamy haze. Only occasional pain and confusion wrought by some of Cirocco's "voodoo" rituals sheared through the blasé stupor.

Embrace & Siring

Trouble dawned on Cirocco and his "voodoo blood cult", however, in 2001. The Dragons of the Sea were rising forth to punish these sinners for taking the gods' names in vain. Mokolé-mbembe, these saurian monsters were. In desperate anticipation, the Setite Embraced most of his ghouls, including Lanesse. But the beasts tore into his havens, shredding anyone fool enough to stand in their path, even those armed with silver weapons. Lanesse remembers the sudden terror that shot through her entire body. As Cirocco himself fell with a shriek, and the sun began to shine through the shattered wall even in the dead of night, Lanesse fled. She charged out of that den and ran into the city and never looked back.

Early Years

The young vampire was forced to explore the nuances of her new nature alone. Cirocco was gone and so was all of his cult. The woman only remembered vaguely some of her sire's lessons regarding her new existence. She knew she had to drink blood like a devil. Lanesse also recalled to always stay away from the light, that darkness was her friend. And she also learned a lesson Cirocco himself should have learned: don't mess with the Moon-beasts. The many rituals Cirocco cast upon her left an indelible mark on her essence, it seemed. She could sense a change in the wind. So fortune finally did shine on Lanesse later that year. She began to try and return to her life the way it was before her Embrace. She lured her blood victims in with drugs and promise of sexual favors. In the process, she encountered Sedric. The vampire recognized her bloodline in short time, as he was a Serpent of Light. Lanesse and Sedric soon spoke of secret vampire things away from the ears of men. Lanesse came to realize and accept the pointless wickedness of the Followers of Set -- having suffered it first-hand -- and was eager to become a Serpent of Light. He promised her a new place and a new role in a new place. Sedric spoke of the Sabbat and invited her to their secret base in Port-au-Prince.

And so, by the end of 2001, Lanesse was a loyal, Vinculum-bound member of the Sword of Caine. Its membership stretched across much of North America, she was told. And due to the strict laws regarding members in Port-au-Prince, she could only linger in that city long enough to earn her rank. From 2001 to 2002, she learned the ways of the Sabbat under Sedric's impatient guidance. Finally, in the autumn of 2003 Lanesse participated in a vicious brawl with Setites in the back alleys of the capitol. She crammed her serpent's tongue through the throat of one young female Daughter of Set as they tumbled down in the gutter. She arose covered in her enemy's blood and hailed as True Sabbat.

Recent Years

In early 2004, she traveled by ship across the Caribbean. She landed in New Orleans, mingling there with a few Serpents of Light to whom Sedric recommended her. There she learned a touch of voodoo herself, realizing just how much of an effect Cirocco's experiments had on her magical potential. Fearing that these unbound Serpents would use this apparent vulnerability against her if she lingered, Lanesse traveled north. Eventually, the Great Jyhad drew her to Kansas City and its Centropolis locale. Lanesse swore her loyalty through Vaulderie to this diocese and prepared to fight for the light of the world's dark truth.

Pack (Shield of Skulls)

Lanesse is the pack priestess of the pack, the Shield of Skulls. This pack specializes in management of the diocese's various resources, and its ruling membership offers it a measure of prestige above the other packs. Acting as pack leader is Chief Sidney Barnes. Suzette Exauria, Vincent Tyrel, and Calin Martinek also member, albeit as rank-and-file brother and sister. Together they all oversee the sharing of communal havens, handle the sect's limited influence in mortal society, and keep an eye on the diocese's growing territory. Ignoblis ritae include rites like the "Beastmatch", "Brother's Keeper", "Offspring", "Nod to Noddism", "Offspring", "True Sabbat's Memory", and of course Vaulderie.

Weakness
Startled Serpent

Lanesse faces a number of personal problems and the fragile resonance her sire's experimentations left on her preternatural essence. But her close encounter in Haiti has left Lanesse with an imprinted terror of the powerful Mokolé. As a result, she's now a little paranoid about every mortal she encounters. Which one is the next shapeshifting werebeast looking for an excuse to tear off a vampire's head?

Likelihood of Corruption

High.

She's a Sabbat struggling to maintain some measure of humanity even through the philosophies of Noddism... Good luck, honey.
